Infrastructure and catchment area

The runway of the airport allows non-stop flights to any medium-haul destination. After its reconstruction and extension to 2,850 m in 2007, this will even be possible without any take-off weight restrictions. The catchment area of Dresden International includes Saxony, parts of Brandenburg and Thuringia, and also northern Bohemia (Czech Republic) and western parts of Poland.

State capital and high technology

Being the gateway to the capital of the Free State of Saxony, Dresden Airport is frequently used by business travellers. Consequently, there are many connections to the hubs at Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf which offer many intercontinental flights. This makes Dresden Airport a key factor for multinational businesses, e.g. in the aeronautical or semiconductor industries, when they are choosing a new business location. Suppliers and service providers to the aircraft industry have revived the traditions of Dresden in this sector of industry. There is plenty of project development areas right next to the airport for further businesses to establish new locations.
