Change in the Supervisory Board of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG:
thanks expressed to Prof. Heinz Ruhnau - Willi Hermsen elected as new Chair

Dresden / Leipzig. At today's ordinary meeting of the Supervisory Board and General Assembly of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, Prof. Heinz Ruhnau was thanked as he retired from his position as the Head of the Supervisory Board.

Ruhnau resigned after seven years of commitment to Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports where, amongst other roles, he served as Head of the Supervisory Board of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG. He played a major role in the founding of the holding company.

State Minister Dr Horst Metz acknowledged Professor Ruhnau's exceptional commitment to the development of air traffic and the great idealism with which he represented the Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG airports, the handling agent PortGround and the freight broker EasternAirCargo on the market. His outstanding social competence became particularly evident during the restructuring of tariffs in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the companies, said Metz.

Willi Hermsen was elected to follow Prof. Heinz Ruhnau as Head of the Supervisory Board of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG. By appointing the aviation expert Hermsen to this office, the shareholders emphasised their intention to continue the specialist work of the supervisory institutions. Hermsen was born in 1939 in Duisburg. He previously worked as the General Manager of Flughafen München GmbH for more than twelve years. In addition to his position with Munich Airport, Willi Hermsen, who is regarded even outside Germany as one of the most distinguished and successful managers in the aviation industry, has championed air traffic in many national and international associations.

Before he went to Munich Airport, he had had several managerial functions in the Deutsche Lufthansa group over an 18-year period.
