Recent history
Airport policy through one face
The foundation of Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding as a German stock company (Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG) in 2000 marked the official realisation of the fundamental strategic decision of the shareholders to develop the two international airports in central Germany in a unified manner, demand-led and under central management.
This exemplary holding structure has supported the clear-cut profiles of the two airports. The liberalisation of ground handling services stipulated by the EU has put the costs of the core business of the airports and thus of all other business areas under considerable pressure. Consequently, the decision was reached to combine the ground handling business at the two airports in one company.Milestones
