Guided Tours

The visitor service at Dresden Airport offers various guided tours for interested persons and those keen to learn more. The tours highlight the history, present state and future of the airport and offer exciting insight into what goes on at the airport on a daily basis in the public areas and behind the scenes. 

You can see the current dates for tours for individual guests in the event calendar and conveniently make an online booking.

The visitor service also organises group tours on request. You will find a summary of topics below. Our employees will be happy to advise you.

Protecting people's health is our top priority

Extensive hygiene precautions ensure a safe tour. We would ask for your cooperation and support.

  • The number of people on each tour is limited so that we can maintain the general social distancing rules.
  • Disinfectant dispensers are available on site.
  • The handles and seats in the airport's own bus are disinfected before each tour. 
  • All those taking part aged 6 and over must wear a face mask.
  • In order to take part in a tour, each person must:  
    • be fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV2 virus (at least 14 days after the second vaccination (the vaccination pass acts as evidence) or
    • have recovered from the SARS-CoV2 virus for no longer than the past 6 months (a doctor’s certificate is mandatory) or
    • present a current SARS-CoV2 test with a negative result (which may not be older than 24 hours).
  • If you feel ill, please stay at home.

Mini Tour

The Mini Tour starts with a security check. You then discover more about the airport during a bus trip. Our guides explain interesting facts about the history and future of the airport during the trip around the apron area – and you can take photos of the aircraft as they are prepared for take-off.

Maxi Tour

The Maxi Tour is an extension of the Mini Tour. You will also visit our fire brigade with its modern fire-fighting vehicles. As an alternative to the fire brigade, we can also offer our Maxi Tour in combination with a visit to the weather station (max. 15 persons).

Environmental Protection Tour

Air traffic and protection of our environment – they don't go together? Find out for yourself on this guided tour. During a ride on the apron bus, you will learn more about the various aspects of environmental protection at the airport, such as how bees are used to monitor the effects of flight operations on the environment, why foxes are welcome at the airport and what measures are being taken to reduce CO2 emissions.

Adventure Tour

Take a look behind the scenes at air traffic operations during two exciting hours. After undergoing a security check, you discover interesting facts about the history and current operations at our airport. You get very close to the aircraft in an apron bus and gain an impression of the technical equipment used at Dresden Airport. We also explain the modern fire brigade to you and a fire-fighter will show you round one of the vehicles used to extinguish blazes.

Weather Station Tour

The German Weather Service’s (DWD) weather station is located right next to the runway. You will discover interesting facts about the DWD’s tasks and the measuring equipment and weather data during a tour of the weather station and the weather garden. The tour ends with an opportunity to view the apron area.

Follow Me Tour

The Follow Me Tour is one of the most impressive at Dresden Airport. Following a guided tour of the terminal and a reception with sparkling wine and a panoramic view of the apron area, you start your individual discovery trip in a Follow Me vehicle. You experience at close quarters how aircraft are prepared for take-off and discover plenty of interesting facts about flying.

Price: EUR 180 including drinks for max. four persons

Airport History Tour

Take a journey back into the exciting past with us! You first obtain an extensive overview of the history of aviation in Dresden and the development of the airport site in our Aero-Lounge. You can also grasp history at close quarters by inspecting the last remaining fuselage of the legendary “152” aircraft and the “Mi-2” helicopter used by the Saxon state police force.

Equipment Close-Up Tour

This exclusive hands-on tour is unique in Germany. No more than two adults experience how an aircraft is prepared for take-off from an unusually close perspective. You obtain insight into the work performed by the ground services company, PortGround, and can travel in apron vehicles and operate selected machines yourself.
